Desi Boyz started filming on 7 November 2010, and completed shooting in May 2011. The movie is released on 25th of November 2011. Desi Boyz was to feature Sonam Kapoor as the lead actress, but she declined the film. There were also rumours of the film being offered to Anushka Sharma, but she denied this. Eventually, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh were finalised as the female leads. Deepika playing opposite John Abraham for the first time and Chitrangd star opposite Akshay Kumar in her first commercial venture.

Akshay Kumar and John Abraham reunite after six years of GARAM MASALA in DESI BOYZ. Serious issues such as recession, unemployment and economic crisis have been integrated into the plotline, which compels the boyz, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, to choose an alternate job -- join a male escort agency run by Sanjay Dutt.

Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given an 'A' Certificate to the film. Rohit Dhawan (director) said in media, "I'm extremely disappointed and saddened by the censors' verdict. I've made a positive feel-good film. I think it'll go down as the cleanest 'A' certified film ever." Rohit's dad David Dhawan has never got an A-rating in his entire career.

Stupid Common Man's view:
Natrajan Subramaniam's cinematography is eye-filling. Milap Zaveri's lines are witty and sharp in the fist half of the movie, second half seems dull. The role of Jerry Patel and Nick Mathur required stars with a debonair persona and charisma, to match it Akshay and John seems the most apt choice. Deepika and Chitrangda looks stunning and acts well. However Chitrangda enters the plot much later in the second half. The child actor is really cute with decent performance. Director Rohit Dhawan, son of David Dhawan seems confused if he want to make a sex comedy or a romantic flick. Not much skin-show compare to recent movies from same genera, still Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given an 'A' Certificate.. we are confused too!
