The Dirty picture – the most awaited movie of 2011 releasing tomorrow. Clever media plan, smart strategy, prominent sites and hi-visible social sharing already half done toward the success of the film. Movie promotions in Bollywood have undergone a 360-degree transformation with The Dirty picture. For the first time in Bollywood, to promote Vidya Balan starrer The Dirty Picture in smaller towns, the actor has been put on the cover of a popular Hindi magazine, 'Manohar Kahaniyan'.

The Dirty Picture meant to be a biopic of south siren Silk Smitha. Vidya plays junior artist Reshma (probably a reference to one of Silk Smitha’s popular films, Reshma Ki Jawani). The film is a recreation of an era when the formula ruled - story almost always revolved around the film’s lead star, a comedy track was a must, there had to be a punch line in every scene, and crassness was a necessary ingredient. There was also a vamp prancing in skimpily clad outfits around the good-hearted hero, before he spurned her advances for the pristine heroine.

Alt Entertainment in association with Cinergy Independent Film Services take the 'The Dirty Picture' to Dubai today on Thursday, 1st Dec. To mark the opening of the film a day long promotions culminating in a special red carpet screening at the Grand Cineplex, Wafi. Following a press meet at the Grand Hyatt was a meet-and-greet with fans at the Dubai Mall today.

The film release however was not silk smooth. Southern icon Silk Smitha's brother, V. Naga Vara Prasad, sent a legal notice to the film's producer Ekta Kapoor and director Milan Luthria for not taking permission from the late actress' family before making the movie. Movie's publicist issued a statement in response that reads "With reference to the legal notice received and the ongoing speculation about the film, Balaji wishes to clarify that ‘The Dirty Picture’ is the romantic journey of a fiercely ambitious starlet who dreams of making it big on the silver screen. The film is not a formal biopic or biography, as is being speculated. It is a work of fiction, and any character`s resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is coincidental". As per PTI report (Hyderabad, Dec 1) the Andhra Pradesh High Court today dismissed a petition challenging the release of Vidya Balan starrer 'Dirty Picture' tomorrow.

Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor, the movie also stars Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar Kapoor.
